We brought our passion for pancakes from Antwerp, Belgium to New Plymouth, New Zealand over 20 years ago and have been perfecting our craft ever since. We now produce and deliver light and fluffy pancakes all over the world!
How it began: A chance meeting at trade fair
Our founders, Marcel and Ingrid, were presenting their own pancake-making machine at a trade show in Germany when they met a synonymous New Zealand baker. He suggested they visit his business in New Plymouth and offered to help with distribution should they make the move.
A visit to New Plymouth
Marcel and Ingrid visited New Plymouth and sent samples of their delicious product to various businesses in the region. The feedback was positive, so they returned to Belgium with a big decision to make - to stay or move to the other side of the world!
The final, big move
Thankfully for us, they decided to do it! Paperwork was signed and they decided to take the plunge in the pancake business in New Zealand. They established Van Dyck Fine Foods in July 2000, which sold pancakes, crepes and blinis to Foodservice businesses. In 2017, the business established Marcel’s Pancakes as a new customer-facing brand.

From recipes inspired by Marcel’s mother, to new flavours such as apple cinnamon, chocolate chip and blueberry, the business grew and so did the world’s appetite for our light and fluffy pancakes!
